Reading skills are essential for success in the
Connected Mathematics Program (CMP) and are practiced on a daily
basis. Students are often faced with instructions that involve
multiple steps or with problems that are preceded by informative
stories. Many students have trouble solving the problems due to poor
reading comprehension skills. Our Mathematics program would be
enhanced by any activities in other subject areas that help students
build stronger reading comprehension skills.
